new home, new music, new love for all

Hi everyone, I’ve decided to merge my untitled music blog and my previously defunct Fanterview site into an invigorating mp3 blog. I know, I know, mp3 blogs are a dime a dozen these days, but I have nothing better to do with my time and music is my one true love.

Old posts can be viewed at http://jamina.vox.com, and I’m working on uploading all the old band interviews.

On to the good stuff.

Last night I saw Jack’s Mannequin play at UIC Pavilion. I first fell in love with Andrew McMahon’s music when it was featured in One Tree Hill over a year ago. However, I overdosed on the album and hadn’t listened to any of the songs in months. But when my friend Bethany offered me a ticket to see them, I couldn’t refuse. Plain White T’s was the opener and Panic! at the Disco was the headliner, unfortunately. While I detest P! atD like the elitist I am, I must admit they put on a very entertaining show. The show was more of a circus-type performance than an actual concert. I got a headache halfway through, so I just sat down in the back and watched it on the screen. They covered “Eleanor Rigby” though, and I enjoyed that.

Speaking of the circus and Eleanor Rigby, the “new” Beatles album, LOVE, was released two days ago. The album was created for the Cirque du Soleil show of the same name. The songs all have a kind of wonky, surreal feel to them. And Octopus’s Garden is one of the Beatles stranger songs, but I love it, so here are three versions.

Octopus’s Garden (LOVE version)

Octopus’s Garden (original)

Glass Octopus (Beatles vs. Blondie mashup)

ah lucky you saw jack’s mannequin. yea i didn’t listen to them for a while and yesterday they popped up on my playlist and i shortly became addicted to it.

but can you not like P!ATD. their music is awesome. so do you like them now? is it another motion city soundtrack thing where you didn’t like them, but it took you one concert to realize that they were pretty much amazing? (i havne’t listened to motion city. in a while though)

but yea…hopefully i can go on the 17th. and remind me to give you
-This Providence (both CDS) if you don’t have them already.
-The Nightmare Before Christmas (its like a remix that joe gave me. it has songs that are played by P!ATD, Fall Out Boy, Fiona Apple etc..)
-Myriad (one of my new addictions)
-Meg and Dia (i saw them in the AP magazine and checked them out. they’re pretty good)
-and last but not least some new songs that we sang at kwap that i downloaded. (if you want them)
